Reaction to Leverkusen v FCB

'We believe in ourselves'

FC Bayern were held to a goalless stalemate by Bayer Leverkusen on Matchday 29 even though the hosts went a man down on the hour. The Bavarians' cushion at the top of the table is still comfortable, Bayern are eight points clear of RB Leipzig. But the German record champions were not satisfied after the match. "We're annoyed at ourselves," Thomas Müller said, rueing the missed chances.

Reaction to Leverkusen v Bayern

Carlo Ancelotti: "The team turned in a good display. We played with lots of intensity, we had lots of chances. But a draw like this just happens from time to time."

Thomas Müller: "Our performance and attitude were good, but our use of the chances was fatal. You can't win if you don't score. We had three, four, five clear-cut chances. I had a really good opportunity myself but made the wrong decision, so we're annoyed at ourselves."

David Alaba: "We tried to put our plan to practice from the start, and we mostly succeeded at it. The positive aspect is that we created a number of chances, but we failed to make the most of them. At the end of the day you have to score, and if we do we leave the pitch as winners. We still have a few days until Wednesday. We believe in ourselves. We're highly motivated and we're looking forward to the match in Madrid. We want to give it everything to be successful."

Tayfun Korkut (Bayer Leverkusen coach): "We knew we'd suffer a lot and that we wouldn't have much possession. I'm pleased for the team and at the way we retained the point with a man down. We didn't allow many chances when we were a man down, which was crucial for our confidence."

Bernd Leno (Bayer Leverkusen keeper): "We're relieved. It was a long fight, and fortunately we've rewarded ourselves. If you look at the chances you have to say we were a bit lucky to take the point."
