He keeps on scoring. Striker Robert Lewandowski continued his impressive run in the first Oktoberfest home game against FC Köln. Goals number eight and nine for the 31-year-old in the current campaign set the record champions on course for victory. "I'm very happy to have scored those goals. But I’m even happier we played really well and did everything we planned," said Lewandowski after the convincing 4-0 victory against the newly promoted opposition.

Apropos of nothing, the striker continued to extend his impressive stats in his 250th appearance for FCB. The Pole is the first Bayern pro since Carsten Jancker in 2000 to score in all of the first five matchdays. But that's not all: Nine goals in five games has only been achieved once before in the 57 years of the Bundesliga. That was by Peter Meyer of Borussia Mönchengladbach in 1967. Overall, Lewandowski has scored in seven competitive matches on the bounce to equal his personal best from the 2012/13 season.

The Poland captain has scored seven goals for FC Bayern against FC Köln and has now overtaken the chairman Karl Heinz Rummenigge and club president Uli Hoeneß (six each). Only Roland Wohlfarth (nine) and Gerd Müller (14) have scored more often for FCB against the Cologne team in the top flight. Lewandowski has now found the back of the net eleven times against FC Köln and that makes the Goats the tenth team the striker has scored at least ten goals against.

With 211 goals in total, the league top goalscorer for the past three seasons is now fifth in the list of all-time Bundesliga goalscorers and is only two behind the recently deceased Manfred Burgsmüller (213) and nine behind his former coach Jupp Heynckes (220). Lewandowski has now scored 202 goals for FC Bayern putting him in third place behind Rummenigge (217) and Gerd Müller (508).

Talking about Gerd Müller: Only the Bomber has scored at least two goals per game (87) more than Lewandowski who netted two or more goals for the 56th time in his career against the team from Cologne. "I'm very happy to have scored again. But we've only played five games," said Lewandowski. There's still a long way to go…
