When Ivan Perišić came to FC Bayern in the summer, he had several objectives. One of them was to improve his record in the Champions League, having failed to score since his debut goal in the competition in September 2011. "I hope I can soon change that with Bayern," said the Croatian, who is celebrating his 31st birthday on Sunday, in an interview with fcbayern.com in October.
On Matchday 4 of this season's competition, he did just that, firing the ball in from close range to complete a 2-0 win at home to Olympiacos.

That's not the only time that Bayern's No. 14 has caught the eye. In 22 appearances in all competitions for the German record champions, Perišić has registered five goals as well as eight assists. The 2018 World Cup runner-up has been particularly impressive in recent outings against Hertha BSC and Schalke 04, helping Bayern to climb back to the top of the Bundesliga table.
