Following the 4-1 defeat in the second leg at Chelsea, the FC Bayern Women unfortunately go out at the semifinal stage of the Women's Champions League but the performance of the team in Europe's top competition was extremely creditable. Herbert Hainer, president of FC Bayern, and the chairman of the board Karl-Heinz Rummenigge found words of praise for the team led by coach Jens Scheuer after the game.

Hainer: "FC Bayern also have women power"

Herbert Hainer (President of FC Bayern eV): "I'd like to congratulate our women's team led by coach Jens Scheuer and the sporting management of Karin Danner and Bianca Rech for their great Champions League season and the big battle in the semifinal against Chelsea. Reaching the top four in Europe is a great success and we are also having an outstanding season in the Bundesliga as league leaders. Our aim with our women's players is to be at the top in Europe and the number one in Germany. We are getting closer to that target in big steps. This team will continue to entertain and, like our men's teams and the FC Bayern basketball team, will be an important showpiece of our club. FC Bayern also have women power."

Rummenigge: "Reaching the semifinal was a great achievement"

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge (Chairman of the board FC Bayern München AG): "FC Bayern are very proud of our women's football team after their great performance in the semifinals of the Champions League. We are convinced that this team will continue their great progress over recent years and firmly establish themselves in top European football. Reaching the semifinals was a great achievement, which we have only managed twice – and we are all convinced that we will continue to have a great track record. Now we have to focus on our big target, the championship title."
