Congratulations, Harry Kane! The FC Bayern forward has won the prestigious Golden Shoe, the award for the leading goalscorer in the European leagues. In his third season with the German record champions, the 32-year-old netted 36 goals in the Bundesliga (factor 2) to finish top of the ranking with 72 points, ahead of Erling Haaland (54 points) of Manchester City and Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé (50 points). “Personally it’s been the best season of my career,” said Kane after completing the double of the league and DFB Cup. The England captain netted a whopping 61 goals in 51 appearances in all competitions.

The Golden Shoe has been presented by European Sports Media (ESM) since 1997. UEFA (from 1967/68) was previously responsible for the award. It’s the second time Kane has claimed the honour of Europe’s best goalscorer following his debut 2023/24 campaign. He joins an illustrious list of names like Gerd Müller (1970 and 1972) and Robert Lewandowski (2021 and 2022) who have won the trophy twice during their time in Munich. Former FCB players Roy Makaay and Luca Toni are also on the star-studded list of former winners, albeit as players of Deportivo La Coruña and ACF Fiorentina respectively.

1. Harry Kane (FC Bayern), 72 points, 36 goals (factor 2)
2. Erling Haaland (Manchester City), 54 points, 27 goals (factor 2)
3. Kylian Mbappé (Real Madrid), 50 points, 25 goals (factor 2)
4. Dion Beljo (Dinamo Zagreb), 46.5 points, 31 goals (factor 1.5)

Explanation: goals scored by players from the top five leagues according to UEFA’s five-year coefficient are multiplied by a factor of two, while those scored by players in the leagues from sixth to 22nd position are multiplied by 1.5. For players from any other league there’s no bonus. Goals in play-off matches do not count.
