FC Bayern beat Werder Bremen 4-0 in Friday's Bundesliga opener. Leroy Sané handed Munich an early lead, Harry Kane doubling Bayern's advantage with a quarter-hour to go. Sané rounded off his brace and Tel added the final flourish in the closing stages.
Bayern lined up with Sven Ulreich in goal and Noussair Mazraoui, Dayot Upamecano, Minjae Kim and Alphonso Davies in defence. Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka anchored a midfield featuring Sané, Jamal Musiala and Kingsley Coman, with Kane at centre-forward. Matthijs de Ligt, Konrad Laimer, Thomas Müller, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Tel came on for Kim, Goretzka, Musiala, Coman and Kane in the second half.
Sané opens
Bayern settled into their possession game from the off and took an early lead when Sané was through on goal following a one-two with Kane and beat keeper Jiří Pavlenka. Bremen soon had the ball in the net from a free-kick, but Niclas Füllkrug's goal was ruled out for offside.
Munich created a number of presentable chances now but failed to make the most of them. Musiala fired just wide and Mazraoui shaved the post, Pavlenka also denying Goretzka. Musiala saw another shot deflected behind before Kim saw a header saved as Bayern went into half-time a goal up.
Kane seals it
Bremen went looking for a reply after the restart, although Sané soon called Pavlenka into action. Leonardo Bittencourt flashed an effort wide and Füllkrug fired over, but the pendulum soon swung the other way. Coman saw his curler crash off the post before Pavlenka denied Kane.
Jens Stage smashed wide, with Kimmich and Coman miscuing efforts at the other end. Davies soon set up Kane, who fired past Pavlenka to put the game to bed and crown his Bundesliga debut with his first goal in Bayern colours. Musiala saw an effort saved, but Müller's square invited Sané to slot home before Tel applied the icing on the cake with a powerful finish.
The Bavarians will be back in action next Sunday, when they entertain Augsburg in the Bundesliga.
