FC Bayern progressed to the second round of the DFB Cup with a 4-0 victory over Preußen Münster. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting handed Munich an early lead, Konrad Laimer and Frans Krätzig extending the advantage before half-time. Mathys Tel rounded off the scoreline in the closing stages.
Daniel Peretz, Raphaël Guerreiro and Taichi Fukui made their competitive debuts for Bayern on Tuesday, Krätzig scoring his first senior goal when he netted in the first half.
Bayern lined up with Peretz in goal and Konrad Laimer, Noussair Mazraoui, Leon Goretzka and Alphonso Davies in defence. Joshua Kimmich and Jamal Musiala anchored a midfield featuring Serge Gnabry, Choupo-Moting and Kingsley Coman, with Tel up front. Gnabry had to be replaced inside 10 minutes after a collision, Krätzig taking over. Bouna Sarr, Guerreiro, Fukui and Leroy Sané came on for Laimer, Davies, Kimmich and Choupo-Moting in the second half.
Choupo opens
It came as no surprise that Bayern were dominant from the off, and Choupo-Moting soon capitalised on a mix-up in the box and fired home from close range. Krätzig saw a header deflected wide before Peretz was called into action and saved a deflected effort. Preußen keeper and FCB loanee Johannes Schenk denied Musiala and Choupo-Moting, with Tel firing one over.
Munich retained the lion's share of possession, and a Coman effort was blocked before Goretzka drew a fine save from Schenk at a corner. Laimer soon doubled the lead with a fine looping header. Krätzig then found the net with the half-time whistle imminent.
Tel on target
Tel saw an effort saved and fired wide as Bayern eased off, with clear-cut chances at a premium for a spell. Musiala miscued and a Coman shot was deflected behind, Peretz saving from Joel Grodowski at the other end.
The final flourish came when Sarr set up Tel with a brilliant through ball, the youngster beating Schenk through his legs. Coman fired over and Peretz saved from Simon Scherder as Bayern booked a berth in the second round of the DFB Cup.
Bayern will learn the identity of their next DFB Cup opponents on Sunday, with the matches to be played on 31 October and 1 November. The Bavarians will be back in action on Saturday, when they travel to face RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga.
