FC Bayern rounded off their stay in Tokyo with a 1-0 Audi Football Summit win over Kawasaki Frontale. New signing Minjae Kim made his debut in Bayern colours and turned in a strong display. The German record champions utterly dominated for long spells, and Josip Stanišić scored the match-winner after half-time.
Bayern started with Yann Sommer in goal and Noussair Mazraoui, Benjamin Pavard, Kim and Alphonso Davies in defence. Joshua Kimmich and Konrad Laimer anchored a midfield featuring Leroy Sané, Jamal Musiala and Serge Gnabry, with Mathys Tel up front.
Stanišić, Dayot Upamecano, Matthijs de Ligt, Frans Krätzig, Leon Goretzka, Aleksandar Pavlović, Bouna Sarr, Ryan Gravenberch and Kingsley Coman took over from Mazraoui, Pavard, Kim, Davies, Kimmich, Laimer, Sané, Musiala and Gnabry at half-time, with Arijon Ibrahimović coming on for Tel after an hour.
No goals
The boisterous 45,289 crowd at Tokyo's National Stadium saw the home team get off to a good start, but Bayern soon took control. Tel saw two efforts saved and hit the post as Bayern increasingly strangled their opponents with possession.
For all of Munich's dominance, clear-cut chances were few and far between for a spell. Bayern upped the ante before half-time, but Pavard miscued a header before Kimmich and Tel fired wide, and the contest was goalless at half-time.
Stanišić seals it
Sommer was called into action by Seko after the restart, but Stanišić won the ball in midfield to hand Bayern the lead after a one-two with Gravenberch before the hour mark. Yamada aimed too high before Bayern missed a number of chances in the closing stages, Ibrahimović hitting the post and firing wide.
On Sunday the Bavarians travel to Singapore, where they face Liverpool in a heavyweight clash on Wednesday.
