On-fire FCB down Liverpool in thriller

FC Bayern beat Liverpool 4-3 to win the Singapore Trophy on Wednesday, rounding off the Audi Summer Tour with a victory in a thrilling match. Coda Gakpo and Virgil van Dijk scored for Liverpool, but Serge Gnabry pulled one back and Leroy Sané levelled the scores before half-time. Luis Díaz restored Liverpool's lead, but Josip Stanišić found the net before youngster Frans Krätzig sealed the win with a sumptuous belter in stoppage time.

Bayern lined up with Yann Sommer in goal and Benjamin Pavard, Dayot Upamecano, Minjae Kim and Alphonso Davies in defence. Joshua Kimmich and Konrad Laimer anchored a midfield featuring Sané, Jamal Musiala and Gnabry, with Mathys Tel up front.

Sven Ulreich, Matthijs de Ligt and Kingsley Coman took over from Sommer, Kim and Sané at half-time. Noussair Mazraoui, Stanišić, Krätzig, Aleksandar Pavlović, Leon Goretzka, Ryan Gravenberch, Arijon Ibrahimović and Bouna Sarr came on for Pavard, Upamecano, Davies, Kimmich, Laimer, Musiala, Gnabry and Tel in the second half.

Bayern bounce back

A highly entertaining first half began with an early setback for Bayern, Gakpo slotting past Sommer after a one-two with Jota. Bayern soon got a grip, Musiala and Gnabry seeing their efforts deflected wide before a Pavard header hit the post. Bayern were dominant now, but Liverpool doubled the lead against the run of play when van Dijk headed in from a corner.

FCB went looking for a reply and soon pulled one back, Minjae's delicate pass finding Gnabry, who sidestepped a defender and slotted home. Munich deservedly levelled the scored when Gnabry's square invited Sané to find the net. Tel saw an effort saved, and the sides turned round the the score 2-2.

Krätzig tops it off

Bayern went straight back onto the front foot after half-time. Coman saw an effort saved, but Díaz netted from closed range after a one-two with Salah midway through the second half. Gravenberch saw a shot saved, but Bayern equalised with ten minutes to go, Alisson parrying a de Ligt header, with Stanišić quickest to react to fire home.
Ulreich made a strong save to deny Núñez before de Ligt's long ball found Krätzig, who unleashed a belter that screamed its way into the net. Alisson made a number of saves as Bayern went on to claim the Singapore Trophy.

The Bavarians will be back in action on Monday, when they take on AS Monaco in the last friendly before kicking off the 2023/24 season.
