A goal fest on Lake Tegernsee! FC Bayern won 14-1 at FC Rottach-Egern in their first pre-season friendly on Wednesday evening. At the end of the training camp in the idyllic Bavarian Alps, Mathys Tel (3 goals), Adin Ličina and Mudaser Sadat (2 each) were particularly in goalscoring mood for the German record champions. Tobias Schlichtner scored the consolation goal for the hosts in the 28th minute.
However, it wasn't just the number of goals that ensured high spirits among the 2,750 spectators at the sold-out Sportplatz Birkenmoos, where Bayern again showed up with a range of events and mascot Berni. After the successful start, Vincent Kompany's side's next friendly is just four days away: on Sunday (15:30 CEST), the Munich men try out against Regionalliga outfit 1. FC Düren – you can watch the match live on FC Bayern TV Plus.
Rottach-Egern hold firm at first
As expected, it was one-way traffic from the start, but the Rottach-Egern defence and outstanding goalkeeper Mario Weiß managed to keep Bayern out in the early stages. Tel could only strike the woodwork in the eighth minute, before Weiß diverted a shot from Bryan Zaragoza onto the bar (17'). The floodgates were soon opened on the 25-minute mark, when youngster Adin Ličina netted a quickfire double before Bayern rapidly extended their lead through a Tel double (26', 27'). Rottach gathered themselves, though, and replied through Schlichtner to make it 4-1 to FCB.
This did little to change the pattern of the game as the Reds continued to push forward. Noussair Mazraoui (32'), Tel again (40') and Raphaël Guerreiro (42') made it 7-1 before half-time.
Seven goals after the break
Kompany sent out a completely changed 11 onto the field for the second half to give everyone playing time. And the new-look Bayern team immediately went towards the Rottach goal. Arijon Ibrahimović (55'), Mudaser Sadat (59') and Nestory Irankunda (60') provided the next goals. Sacha Boey then forced an own goal (65'), before the young Sadat netted his second (68').
There was no let-up as Jonathan Asp Jensen (77') and Noel Aseko-Nkili (79') as the tenth different goalscorer also got themselves on the scoresheet, and it finished in a deserved 14-1 victory for Bayern in their opening friendly.
