Thirteen up against '13 Höslwanger'

Sunday afternoon’s final score could hardly have been more appropriate as Bayern defeated a team fielded by Bavarian village fan club 13 Höslwanger 13-0. A capacity 11,500 crowd which gathered in the community of 1,200 permanent residents on the shores of Lake Chiemsee saw Zé Roberto mark his return to the Munich ranks with a goal, while Franck Ribéry rattled off a quickfire hat-trick after the interval.

Miroslav Klose, Sandro Wagner and Mats Hummels each grabbed a brace, with further goals for Luca Toni, Jose Ernesto Sosa and Stephan Fürstner, as Germany’s record-holding champions registered the expected routine victory.

Immediately after the final whistle, the Bayern party set off for the main training camp of the pre-season period in Donaueschingen, the source of the river Danube in south-west Baden-Württemberg. The priority for coach Ottmar Hitzfeld and his staff during the eight-day camp will be his players’ fitness and conditioning. Bayern’s next pre-season friendly is on Wednesday evening at 6.30 pm CET away to FC Schaffhausen (live on DSF German sports TV).
