Luca Toni was both literally and personally confronted with the new situation in the Bayern attack on Friday. By way of comparison, last season’s line-up featured first-choice pair Toni and Klose, with only Lukas Podolski, now returned to his hometown club FC Köln, as back-up. Each of the three also spent at least one long spell on the sidelines with injury last season.
