"It's been another great week," said Mario Gomez after the 4-1 triumph in Turin and a 5-1 Bundesliga victory in Bochum. "We've hit our stride, and we're scoring freely too,“ the striker continued, "we've won nothing yet, but we're well on track.“ Coach Louis van Gaal declared himself "very satisfied" after a hugely professional display by his men on Saturday, "we're back to within two points of Leverkusen now."
Reaction to Bochum v Bayern:
Louis van Gaal: "My players concentrated very hard in the build-up to the match, and kept their concentration once it kicked off. It was a big ask after the 4-1 win in Turin, but I'd say winning 5-1 here in Bochum isn't too bad. We prepare well for every match, with videos, team talks and individual chats. I think we saw some of that coming through today. We're back to within two points of Leverkusen now. I'm very satisfied.“
Mario Gomez: "It's been another great week, with plenty of goals away from home. We have another very, very important game next Saturday, and we're determined to win it. I don't think we'll make it to top spot before Christmas now, but we still have the whole of the second half of the season. We've dropped too many points up to now. We had new players, a new coach, and a new system, so it wasn't easy. But if we concentrate and everyone gives his all, players of this quality are going to be successful. We've hit our stride, we're playing good football, and we're scoring freely too. They're well-worked goals we're scoring too, there's nothing lucky about them. We've won nothing yet, but we're well on track.“
