Bayern chase league record and first place

It’s derby time in Bavaria, with the Bundesliga bragging rights in the state up for grabs for the 52nd time when Bayern visit FC Nürnberg on Saturday (Live in English from 3.15 pm on FCB.tv Web Radio). Victory for Munich away to the relegation strugglers, commonly known in Germany as FCN or simply Club, would apply intense pressure on league leaders Bayer Leverkusen, who face a tough trip to Bremen on Sunday.

“We need to carry on against Nürnberg where we left off against Fiorentina, because there’s a real chance we could go top of the Bundesliga,” Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge declared ahead of what is, in total, the 180th competitive meeting between the sides. Rummenigge insisted the men from the state capital could not afford to offer any neighbourly assistance to the side second from bottom of the standings. “We need every point ourselves.”
