As ever, the most important match stat coming out of Saturday’s Bundesliga encounter with Borussia Dortmund was the goal count of 3-1 in Bayern’s favour. However, the game also threw up a welter of fascinating facts and intriguing figures, including records equalled or extended, and a couple of personal milestones. fcbayern.de has pored over the match stats and picked out the highlights.
– After 21 minutes of his 21st appearance, Mark van Bommel scored his first goal of the season. It was the Bayern’s captain’s 11th goal in the league – 10 have come at the Allianz Arena – in his 99th Bundesliga outing.
- Bayern have bounced back and won after going a goal behind four times this season. Munich achieved the same feat six times last term, a Bundesliga record.
- Mario Gomez enjoys facing BVB: the Germany striker netted on Saturday, and has six goals in his last six outings against Dortmund.
– Bayern have now won their last nine Bundesliga fixtures, equalling their own club record from 1980-1, 2001-2 and 2004-5. Another win would equal the league record (Mönchengladbach in 1986-7 and Wolfsburg last term).
– The number of times Bayern have hit the goal frame this season, making FCB easily the league’s unluckiest team. And Bastian Schweinsteiger is the unluckiest of the lot: against BVB, the midfielder hit the ‘woodwork’ for the sixth time.
