Ribéry on form, Klose & Gomez on target

With just over two weeks to go until the World Cup in South Africa, Bayern’s international stars were almost all on the winning side in a round of friendlies on Wednesday night.

Arguably the best impression of all came from Franck Ribéry in a 2-1 win for France over Costa Rica in Lens. The FCB wide man was in good form and provided the 22nd-minute cross from which Douglas Sequeira put through his own goal to level the scores, after Carlos Hernandez had fired the Costa Ricans in front on 11 minutes.

Ribéry in his favoured slot

The French were the better of the teams in Lens and created a string of decent chances, although the winning goal only arrived seven minutes from the end through Matthieu Valbuena. Ribéry was substituted a minute later in a useful warm-up for the Equipe tricolore, in which the FCB man filled his favoured left-sided role in an experimental 4-3-3 formation.
