Bayern have signed promising youngster David Alaba to a new long-term contract at the club. On Tuesday, a few days after the player’s 18th birthday on 24 June, the Austria international signed professional forms with the German double winners, and will now play in Munich until 30 June 2013.
Alaba made six appearances for the senior team last season. He made his Bundesliga debut as a substitute in early March in the fixture away to FC Köln. Aged just 17 years, eight months and 12 days at the time, he became the youngest player to appear in the German top flight for the country’S most successful club.
He is also the youngest player in history to be capped at full international level by Austria. When he came on in a meeting with France in Paris on 14 October last year, he was a mere 17 years and 112 days old. Alaba switched to Munich in summer 2008 from FK Austria Vienna.
