Young FCB pro Mehmet Ekici will appear in FC Nürnberg colours next season. The 20-year-old midfield talent switches to Bayern’s Bundesliga rivals on loan for the 2010-11 season, before returning to the Säbener Strasse, where his contract runs until 30 June 2012.
Ekici signed professional forms with Bayern during the last mid-season break. He was one of the leading scorers for the FCB reserves last term, scoring 12 third division goals, and frequently appearing in Louis van Gaal’s matchday squads in the second half of the season, although the Germany junior international has yet to make his first-team debut.
Ekici scored a total of 18 goals in 61 third division appearances for FCB II. The Munich-born player is a genuine Bayern youth product. He switched to the Säbener Strasse in 1997 from SpVgg Unterhaching at the age of seven, and appeared at every youth level for Germany’s most successful club. He is now hoping to make his Bundesliga breakthrough with Munich’s Bavarian rivals.
