UEFA reaction to news media disclosures

Thursday 16 September 2010: The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has issued a statement regarding allegations published in stern magazine, and FC Bayern München’s subsequent reaction. The governing body’s statement appears in full on its official website UEFA.com.

The statement published on UEFA.com reads:

“Today at noon, Michel Platini, president of UEFA, Gianni Infantino, general secretary of UEFA, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, chairman of the board of FC Bayern München, and Karl Hopfner, vice-chairman of the board of FC Bayern München, discussed recent events that have been covered in the news media and agreed on the need to have absolute clarity on the matter.

In an open and constructive conversation, it was mentioned that, in the light of the recent press coverage, UEFA understands the reasons for the reaction of FC Bayern München.

FC Bayern München has been informed that, in order to clarify the case, UEFA has already opened an internal investigation on the whole matter.”
