FCB aim to shift up the gears in Dortmund

Beating Basel has boosted Bayern’s confidence, a day off on Thursday has allowed for batteries to be recharged, and the champions are now determined to make up ground in the Bundesliga. FCB visit second-placed Dortmund on Sunday (Live in English from 5.15 pm CET on FCB.tv Web Radio) for a “pivotal match,” according to Louis van Gaal. Should Munich lose, Borussia would stride ten points clear of the double winners.

“It's obviously a vital game. Dortmund is a milestone for us,” said Christian Nerlinger. “We have no more excuses. We have to win,” agreed captain Mark van Bommel. However, insisted Van Gaal, the pressure on the team was “not so different to a situation where we were three points ahead of Dortmund. We’re always under pressure to win every match.” However, the coach was not playing down the significance of the fixture: “Obviously, being so many points behind is never good.”
