Tymoshchuk revels in ‘best day’ at Bayern

Anatoliy Tymoshchuk left the Allianz Arena on Saturday with a mystery object in a plastic bag. “It's for my dad,” the Ukraine midfielder revealed to a reporter who had clearly been closely following events after the final whistle. On his way back down the tunnel towards the dressing room, Tymoshchuk had secured a match ball, and that memento was safely about his person as he made his way out of the magnificent arena.

Bayern had beaten Eintracht Frankfurt 4-1, with Tymo generally acknowledged as the man of the match. The defensive midfielder scored twice, first in the 29th minute with a precise 20-yard shot, and then two minutes from time with a comfortable finish from a Franck Ribéry lay-off. “That's the best day I’ve had on the field since arriving here,” he told fcbayern.de.
