Bayern have won Champions League Group E, but the Munich camp was dismayed at the result in Tuesday’s away meeting with Roma. “We’ve thrown it away yet again,” fumed Louis van Gaal after watching his team lead 2-0 at half-time but ultimately lose 3-2 to the Serie A outfit. “Once you’re 2-0 up, you obviously have to be coming away with some kind of result,” said Philipp Lahm, “but we’ve finished top of the table, and that’s still the most important thing.“
Reaction to Roma v Bayern:
Louis van Gaal: “We’ve thrown it away yet again. We did it in Mönchengladbach, we did it in Leverkusen, and now we’ve done it again. It's unbelievable, because we were so dominant. Maybe we lost concentration in the second half. It can’t be true, less than four minutes after the restart, they score from a corner to us. It's just not possible. We’re top of the group, so it’s actually not as bad as it feels just now. But obviously, it’s unbelievable that we’ve thrown away a 2-0 lead. We’re all very disappointed.“
