Bayern kept up the pressure on Bundesliga leaders Dortmund with a straightforward 2-0 victory over Kaiserslautern on Saturday. “It's proof of our upward trend,” said boss Jupp Heynckes, praising his men for their watertight defending after Manuel Neuer and Co “shut out the opposition” for the second game in a row. Captain Philipp Lahm was equally happy: “We came out and went for it straight away.”
Reaction to Bayern v Kaiserslautern:
Jupp Heynckes: “It's proof of our upward trend. It was a fully merited win, and we played very good football at times. It wasn’t easy in the first half, because Kaiserslautern defended extremely well, but we created some gilt-edged chances after the break. We could have won by a lot more. I’m specially pleased with the way we defended. We’ve kept another clean sheet and basically shut out the opposition. I’m delighted about that.”
