FCB centre-back Breno has again been forced to the sidelines with injury. The defender was obliged to undergo an arthroscopy on Thursday after a renewed outbreak of a long-standing inflammation to his right knee, caused by the Brazilian’s resumption of the full team training programme. Surgeons removed part of the inflamed membrane, which could no longer be treated without an operation.
The surgical procedure was performed by Dr. Ulrich Boenisch at Hessingpark Hospital in Augsburg. “We’ll announce a reliable estimate of the length of Breno’s lay-off at a later date,” FCB chief medical officer Dr. Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt informed fcbayern.de.
