The FCB stars left Freiburg’s MAGE SOLAR stadium on Saturday evening with their heads down and without saying a word. Barely 30 yards separated the team bus from the dressing room, but the short distance included a tough-to-stomach walk through the Mixed Zone, packed with reporters seeking statements about the evening’s goalless draw with the Bundesliga’s bottom club.

“Today, we’ve not seen the Bayern Munich we want to see,” Christian Nerlinger stated, declaring himself “very pensive” after a “very sobering evening“ in the Breisgau region. The 0-0 draw with relegation-threatened Freiburg means FCB have slipped to third in the table, four points off champions Borussia Dortmund. “If we carry on like we’ve done today, we won’t be playing a role in the title race,“ Nerlinger warned.
