FCB roll up sleeves and bring home points

A mere three days after an energy-sapping 120 minute cup battle in Mönchengladbach, Bayern worked tirelessly and ground out a 2-1 home victory over Hannover on Saturday, cementing their grip on second spot in the Bundesliga and keeping up the pressure on leaders Dortmund. Munich also extended the gap back to third place by one point, with Schalke now four points behind FCB.

“A huge compliment to the team. They battled away for 90 minutes, and ultimately won deservedly," commented director of sport Christian Nerlinger following a classic sleeves-rolled-up victory over the men from Lower Saxony. “We won this match thanks to our fighting spirit, as you sometimes have to," Nerlinger continued. Coach Jupp Heynckes said he was “very pleased" with his players: “Turning in a performance like that isn't easy just two and a half days after a game like last Wednesday's."
