On the day before a match, Jupp Heynckes normally appears for the media, but this Friday was an exception: the boss ordered a morning of rest for everyone involved in the energy-sapping 120-minute cup scrap in Mönchengladbach. FCB need to recharge their batteries quickly, as Saturday brings another crucial match when Hannover 96 visit the Allianz Arena in the Bundesliga (Live in English from 3.15 pm on FCB.tv Web Radio).
“We're obviously still feeling the effects of the cup game," reported director of sport Christian Nerlinger, standing in for Heynckes at the Säbener Strasse media centre on Friday lunchtime. The players were tired, Nerlinger reported, but that would not be permitted as an excuse: “Not only in this match, but throughout the forthcoming weeks, the players have to go to the limit and beyond."
