Jupp Heynckes had barely taken his seat at the Säbener Strasse media centre before laying down the law for this weekend: “It’s our responsibility to take this game seriously.” Which game? The one on Saturday, sandwiched between the two legs of Bayern’s Champions League semi-final, away to Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga (Live in English from 3.30 pm on Web Radio). Bayern’s head coach says his side isn’t planning on handing Werder an easy victory: “I want to win in Bremen,” he declared.

Heynckes admitted he would be rotating his squad: “It’s no secret that I will be making changes in a few positions.” However, he declined to reveal what the starting eleven would look like. This will depend on how “battered” or “tired” individual players feel. He did say: “There will be a few players who haven’t been starting many matches recently,” but who will be “rewarded” for their “total commitment” in training.
