Martin Demichelis spent eight seasons with Bayern before joining Spanish outfit Malaga halfway through the 2010/11 campaign. Things are going well for Micho, as the Andalusian side lie fourth in La Liga and could earn a shot at Champions League qualifying. Ahead of Wednesday’s Real versus Munich showdown, fcbayern.de spoke to Bayern's first Argentine player.
Interview: Martin Demichelis
fcbayern.de: Micho, Bayern fans haven't heard from you in a while. How are things in Malaga?
Martin Demichelis: I'm very happy here, thank you. When I arrived, our targets were very different. The club was third from bottom, so the first six months were all about avoiding relegation and saving the club. We ended up 11th, which was almost like winning a trophy to us.
It's going extremely well this season, as you're fourth with four games to go. What can you achieve?
We brought in a few new players for this season and we're fourth at the moment. Playing in Europe next season would be a dream come true, and would help the club develop. Our main target is a place in the Champions League, and if not, the Europa League. It's all possible at the moment because it's in our own hands.
