The Chinese national final of the FC Bayern Youth Cup, a series of mini-pitch youth tournaments for 14 to 16 year-olds, took place last weekend in Tianjin, a fast-growing metropolis some 90 minutes from Beijing. Bayern legend Paul Breitner travelled specially to join premium partner Yingli Solar and the Chinese FA (CFA) in casting an expert eye over the most talented youngsters. There was an embarrassment of riches on display for Breitner and his colleagues, as they sifted through the best players from a series of preliminary tournaments, and youths drawn from community projects.

Ten talented youngsters, from the cities of Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chongqing, Chengdu, Tianjin, Beijing, Baoding und Urumqi, were celebrating by the end. After similar tournaments to select Team Austria, Team India and Team Italy, Team China is now complete and will contest the World Final against the other participating nations at the Allianz Arena in May. Team Germany will be selected at a scouting event on 1 May at the Säbener Strasse.

Alongside Yingli Solar and the CFA, the FC Bayern Youth Cup China is supported by club partners Audi, adidas and Lufthansa.
