Newcomers primed for start of training

Dante, Xherdan Shaqiri, Claudio Pizarro, Tom Starke and Mitchell Weiser, Bayern’s five summer signings so far, start a new chapter in their careers in just over a week, when the squad reports back to the Säbener Strasse for the start of pre-season training on Tuesday 3 July. The new faces are busily preparing for the move to Munich, and all five can hardly wait to take up their new roles.

“It’s one of the top five clubs in the world, where I want to win trophies, maybe even the Champions League, and it’s a German club, so everything’s right,” Dante told weekly magazine kicker. The 28-year-old, whose greatest success to date was a Belgian league winner’s medal with Standard Liege in 2008, is hoping for great things: “I have a contract until 2016 – so ideally, we’ll win the German title four times.”

Help from Gustavo and Rafinha

“I’ll give everything for success and a regular place,” said the Brazilian, who is taking a summer vacation in his home country. He insists that the fierce battle for places in Munich causes him “no concerns. I’ll fight for my place.” The defender, who has already located a suitable home in Munich, is hoping for assisstance from fellow countrymen Luiz Gustavo and Rafinha. “With their help, I hope I’ll settle quickly in Munich,” Dante informed spox.com.
