Matthias Sammer on…
…the pace of developments in recent days:
“It resembles what happens in a match: you can't allow yourself too much time for decisions. I'm delighted it's happened so fast and we pushed it through quickly."
…his departure from the DFB:
“Wolfgang Niersbach was very closely involved in bringing me to the DFB in the first place. He was an essential factor, both professionally and for me personally. That hasn't changed, and our relationship is very friendly. In the meantime, we frequently discussed potential future eventualities. Wolfgang Niersbach is a sensitive judge of a situation and knew I really wanted to take the new job."
