Two of Bayern's summer signings, Xherdan Shaqiri and prodigal son Claudio Pizarro, faced the press on Monday in Riva del Garda, and both playfully answered questions about muscles. The young Swiss midfielder is squat, powerful and robust, earning him the nickname Kraftwürfel or literally ‘Power Cube’. The veteran Peru international is still having a few muscular problems at the present time, but is making excellent progress towards full fitness.
How did Shaqiri obtain his formidable physique? “It's how I am by nature," he assured his listeners, “it's not that I visit the weights room every day." Shaq has now been at Bayern for two weeks. “Up to now, I've settled in very well," reported the diminutive 1.69 m (5 ft 6 1/2 in) midfielder, who once set out on a training course in men's fashion: “I'm interested in it," he revealed. However, his gift for football has led him down a completely different career path.
