Supervisory board appoints Dreesen to executive board

FC Bayern hereby announces an important board-level appointment, ratified by the FC Bayern München AG supervisory board in a meeting held on Monday 24 September 2012.

As current FC Bayern München AG deputy chairman Karl Hopfner (60) is to step down from his position as agreed on 31 December 2012, the supervisory board has approved the appointment of his successor. Jan-Christian Dreesen (45) will assume Karl Hopfner’s responsibilities as an FC Bayern München AG executive board member.

After completing an apprenticeship in banking and studies in business management, Jan-Christian Dreesen began his career in finance with Bayerische Vereinsbank, later HypoVereinsbank, where he filled various management positions until 2006, most recently as board director responsible for private customers and Private Banking. In July 2006 he became CEO Wealth Management and a board director of UBS Deutschland AG, where he was elected chairman in 2008. On 1 September 2009, Dreesen joined the board of BayernLB.

“It was and is clear to all of us that replacing Karl Hopfner will be no easy task,“ commented FC Bayern München AG supervisory board chairman Uli Hoeneß, “but we are certain Jan-Christian Dreesen is equipped to continue to run Karl Hopfner’s areas of responsibility as successfully as we’ve become accustomed to for so many years now.“

“I’m very much looking forward to the tasks I’m privileged to be taking on at FC Bayern München,“ commented Dreesen. “The chance of working for this great club probably only comes along once in a lifetime. You can either let the opportunity pass you by, or you can seize it. This is what I have done. In the new year, I will invest all my energies in ensuring FC Bayern continues to be successful in every area.“
