Chorus of praise for ‘top quality’ football

Bayern made light of the two-week international break to maintain their perfect start in the Bundesliga, cementing top spot in the table with a comprehensive 5-0 victory away to Fortuna Düsseldorf on Saturday. Including last term, Jupp Heynckes’ men have now won their last 11 league fixtures, with eight of those in the current campaign, setting a new record in the Bundesliga's 50th season.

“If people are going to compile stats, I'd rather have Bayern top of the list than some other club," said chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge after the final whistle at the Esprit Arena. The 54,000 full house saw Bayern in coruscating form, “and we were utterly dominant throughout," Rummenigge continued. “The team did very well, they were focused and determined, and constantly applied pressure to our opponents."
