Bayern have extended their lead in the Bundesliga for the third week in a row, a 2-0 victory over Freiburg on Wednesday taking Jupp Heynckes’ men ten points clear of new second placed team Leverkusen. FCB, who have kept ten clean sheets in 14 matches to date, are already the unofficial autumn champions. “We'll spend the winter break on top, and that's very, very important," said captain Philipp Lahm.
Reaction to Freiburg v Bayern:
Jupp Heynckes: “It's always tough in Freiburg, they're a very good team. We failed to increase our lead much earlier in the match. That would have made it far easier to see the game through to the end. As it was, Manuel Neuer had to make a magnificent save with the score still 1-0. For all that, we did well for long spells, and apart from a couple of chances at the end, we didn't concede much defensively.”
