Visitors Lille determined to seize ‘last chance’

Valencia, Borisov and Bayern all have six points – but Lille have none. The first reverse fixture in Champions League Group F has become a “last chance" for the men from France, as LOSC coach Rudi Garcia freely admitted in the pre-match press conference at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday evening. The math is simple: Lille must win, or they may be eliminated from Europe's elite club competition with two group matches still to play.

“Obviously, we're not in an optimal position. And everyone expects us to lose," said Garcia on the evening before Wednesday's clash. “But with a courageous display we can confound the predictions. The wonderful thing about football is that the minnows can beat the giants in a one-off match. Our chances aren't big, but we want to go for it and leave the field with our heads held high."
