Fans and pundits alike weren't sure about Dante's chances when he chose to join Bayern. Munich was a completely different proposition compared to Mönchengladbach, so they said. But the Brazilian has silenced the sceptics, claiming a regular berth at centre back for FCB despite fierce competition. Four games prior to the winter break, he has yet to miss a Bundesliga or Champions League contest.
“If Dante's fit and healthy, he plays," boss Jupp Heynckes has now declared, “he has great anticipation, he reads the play and he's a big personality." Dante is a fixture in the Bayern back four, with his partner drawn from the trio of Jerome Boateng, Daniel van Buyten and Holger Badstuber, although the latter is now out of action with a serious knee injury.
