Super sub Gomez on target again

Not content with being a naturally prolific starting striker, Mario Gomez has now shown he can be a deadly super sub as well. In Augsburg on Saturday, the tall German took over from Mario Mandzukic and required just one minute and 46 seconds, and three touches of the ball, before adding his name to the scoresheet. Against Hannover two weeks earlier, he needed only one touch and 26 seconds to net the fastest goal by a substitute in the Bundesliga this season.

Funnily enough, the goal-getter has not always been happy with the idea of coming off the bench and influencing the outcome of a game. His first-ever goal as a sub for FCB did not arrive until March this year, more than two and a half years after he joined the Reds from Stuttgart.
