As a reward for a string of outstanding displays for FC Bayern II, the club’s fourth division reserve team, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg travelled with the senior squad to the winter training camp in Qatar. The talented young Dane is now set to take the next step towards fulfilling his greatest dream. At the age of just 17, Hojbjerg has been asked to train regularly with Philipp Lahm, Bastian Schweinsteiger and company. “We'll continue to bring on Pierre nice and steadily. He'll train with the first team," Matthias Sammer told FCB.tv, “everything else is a little bit up to him too."
As a result of the high-level decision, Hojbjerg was excused the reserves’ training camp in Belek, Turkey this week. However, the plan is for the midfielder to maintain match sharpness by continuing to appear for Mehmet Scholl's side for the rest of the season. Sammer could not say whether the Dane might yet feature in the senior squad at some stage this season, “but Pierre has become more stable and virile. He has every chance. It's well known that Jupp Heynckes has a very, very good eye for young players."
