Xherdan Shaqiri's reputation preceded him prior to his arrival in Munich last summer from FC Basel. No one doubted his agility, invention, dribbling skill and shooting prowess, but critics questioned his ability to thrive at a genuinely big club such as Bayern. However, the 21-year-old silenced the doubters by settling in quickly and adding a new dimension to the team.
Shaq has appeared in almost 80 percent of Munich's matches so far this term and has four goals to his name. “It's been perfect so far," the versatile forward told fcbayern.de. Xherdan has largely featured as a super sub so far, but his plan is to gain regular status in the months and years to come, and help his new club win trophies.
Interview: Xherdan Shaqiri
fcbayern.de: Xherdan, you've been at Bayern for six months and you're already a crowd favourite…
Xherdan Shaqiri: It's what I keep hearing and it's wonderful. I'm always delighted to meet the fans and I like signing autographs after training. It's incredible how many Bayern fans are here in Doha for the training camp, not something we had when I was at Basel.
