Chinese hopefuls vie for places in grand final

The second edition of the FC Bayern Youth Cup, launched by Brazil in Sao Paolo last November, has now moved to China. Guangzhou, venue for last year’s Audi Football Summit, hosts the Chinese final on Thursday and Friday. The top talents from the elimination rounds, which were held across the nation over the last few months, will now show off their skills to Paul Breitner and representatives of partners Yingli Solar, Lufthansa, adidas and Audi.

All the youngsters are aiming for a place at the world grand final on 6 June 2013 at the Allianz Arena in Munich. The ten best youth players aged between 14 and 16 will be selected to represent Team China, and will face teams representing the other participating nations, Brazil, Japan, India, Italy, Austria and Germany. All the players at the grand final will also take part in training sessions supervised by Bayern’s youth coaching staff.

Defending champions Italy

The FC Bayern Youth Cup is a series of tournaments, played on reduced size pitches, for talented 14 to 16-year-olds from all over the world. The defending champions are Italy, who narrowly won the 2011/12 final tournament ahead of Austria, China, Germany and India.
