The rare phenomenon of a white Easter paid Munich a visit on Sunday morning, as winter returned with a vengeance overnight. However, that didn't stop some 1,500 diehard Bayern fans defying the snow and flocking to the Säbener Strasse facility at midday for the last public training session prior to the Champions League quarter-final first leg clash against Juventus on Tuesday.
The crowds saw the customary programme for the day after a match. The players who did not start the previous day’s match, in this case the thumping 9-2 victory over Hamburg, worked out as normal on the practice ground, where they were joined by Manuel Neuer. The rest of the first-team squad completed regeneration exercises in the relative warmth of the Performance Center.
Individual session for David
David Alaba worked his way through a tailored individual programme. The Austrian player of the year picked up a knock in the final workout prior to the Hamburg game and was left out of the matchday squad as a precaution. He is not rated doubtful for Tuesday’s meeting with the Serie A leaders, and is expected to resume the squad programme on Monday.
Mario Gomez also missed out on a place in the squad for the visit of Hamburg. The Germany international strained a hamstring while on duty for his country and was rested on Saturday, but came through the full outdoor session unscathed on Sunday.
