Claudio Pizarro and Xherdan Shaqiri are the first of the club's internationals to return to Munich after completing their commitments in this international break. The pair resumed squad training on Tuesday morning. Shaqiri and his Switzerland team-mates played out a goalless draw with Cyprus last Saturday and have no further fixture this week, while Pizarro has opted not to contest a friendly for Peru against Trinidad and Tobago after helping his national team to a vital 1-0 victory over Chile in World Cup qualifying.
Gomez out of Germany versus Kazakhstan
Germany are without Mario Gomez for Tuesday evening’s World Cup qualifier against Kazakhstan in Nuremberg. The Bayern striker has yet to shake off a muscle strain sustained in training with the national squad last week, an injury which kept him out of the trip to Astana for the first meeting with Kazakhstan last Friday. Gomez and injured Schalke defender Benedikt Höwedes were both released from the Germany training base in Herzogenaurach on Tuesday morning, the German FA (DFB) said on its official website. “After consulting the team doctors, it was decided both should return to their clubs for treatment," the statement read.
Another draw for Gustavo and Dante
Luiz Gustavo and Dante will return from international duty with Brazil undefeated, but also with no victory under their belts. Following a 2-2 draw with Italy last Thursday, A Seleçao were held 1-1 by Russia in London on Monday evening, a result which means new national coach Luiz Felipe Scolari is still waiting for a first win after three games back in charge. Monday's game could easily have ended in defeat for the five-time world champions, as the Russians were close to a historic first victory over Brazil thanks to a 73rd-minute Victor Fayzulin effort, but Fred scrambled an equaliser in the last minute. Neither Bayern man featured in the match on this occasion.
Bayern goal of the month scored by Arjen
Arjen Robben was the winner of the prestigious ARD Goal of the Month award for February, and Bayern fans have signified agreement with that call by voting the Dutchman's superb winning goal in the DFB Cup quarter-final against Dortmund as the club's February goal of the month. Arjen's effort earned 68 percent of the votes cast by FCB.tv users, well ahead of Mario Mandzukic’ scissors kick against Wolfsburg (22 percent) and Franck Ribéry's first-time shot against Bremen (10 percent). Robben also scored January's Bayern goal of the month.
