Relentless FCB ‘win dirty’ and appreciate it

There are still ten Bundesliga fixtures to go, but it's already a season of the superlatives. A total of 63 points from 24 games, 17 victories with no goal conceded and 603 minutes without letting in a goal away from home are all unprecedented in the German top flight. Furthermore, 11 away wins and a perfect record in the first seven matches after the winter break equal existing records. It could be a campaign for the history books, but at the moment, no-one at the club has any interest in that. “Once we're mathematically certain of the title, we can try and break a record or two," observed Mario Gomez, “but before then, our only target is to win the league."

Bayern continued on their relentless course on Sunday afternoon with a 1-0 victory away to Hoffenheim. The leaders beat the club lying second from bottom thanks to an “efficient" performance, as match-winning goalscorer Gomez said: “It wasn't a festival of football. We've had plenty of games this season where we've let off fireworks, but you don't get more than three points for that, and three points were on offer again today."
