Awesome FCB up to 122 goals for the season

It would be harsh to aim too much criticism at VfL Wolfsburg in the light of Tuesday evening’s meeting with Bayern at the Allianz Arena. “We came up against strong opponents tonight," acknowledged Jupp Heynckes. The Wolves restricted FCB to six shots on target during the cup semi-final, something very few teams have achieved against the men from Munich this season. The problem for Dieter Hecking's side was that every single shot hit the back of the net, as FCB won 6-1 in yet another show of strength on their home turf. The men who did the damage were the tireless Mario Mandzukic with a goal, man of the match Xherdan Shaqiri and winger Arjen Robben with a goal and two assists each, and clinical finisher Mario Gomez, who put away a lightning-quick hat-trick.

“When Bayern put together their moves, there's no way to defend," praised Hecking, “it really is extra class." These are typical of the comments offered by opponents after they've played Bayern these days, as the Bundesliga champions’ attacking power is truly awesome: FCB have 122 goals in 44 matches so far this term, an average of 2.8 per game. The last four home fixtures have produced 21 goals for the men in red.
