Bayern boast an extremely positive past record against Barcelona. Of six previous meetings in European competition, Germany’s most successful club have lost only one. A 63,000 crowd at the Olympiastadion in Munich witnessed the first competitive meeting between Bayern and Barça. Oscar García handed the visitors a 15th-minute lead, but Marcel Witeczek (52) and Mehmet Scholl (57) turned the match on its head. However, Gheorghe Hagi (77) levelled the scores before the end. Barcelona boss Johan Cruyff’s line-up included former Barça and future Bayern coach Pep Guardiola, and keeper Carles Busquets, father of current Barça midfielder Sergio Busquets.
