Confed Cup call-ups for Dante and Gustavo

There will be an extra shift this season for Bayern pair Dante and Luiz Gustavo, as the Brazilian duo have been named in the five-time World Cup winners’ squad for the Confederations Cup on home soil. Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has called up the freshly-minted Bundesliga champions to his 23-strong squad for the 2014 World Cup dress rehearsal. The Confederations Cup will be played from 15 to 30 June in six different venues. Hosts Brazil meet Japan, Mexico and Italy in Group A.

Two further friendlies in July
Bayern have announced details of two additional friendly matches in the pre-season phase, both during the Trentino training camp from 4 to 12 July. The Paulaner Cup, featuring a Fan XI versus the FCB stars, takes place on 5 July in Trentino. Four days later, the men from Munich meet Italian second division outfit Brescia Calcio, where new FCB boss Pep Guardiola twice featured as a player (2001/02 and 2003). Both matches kick off at 6.30 pm CET.

Heynckes to make early June statement
In the course of Tuesday’s UEFA Media Open Day at the Allianz Arena, Jupp Heynckes announced he would not make a statement concerning his future plans until after the Champions League and DFB Cup finals, although he offered a few early hints as to his decision. “If I was 10 or 15 years younger, I'd think very seriously about moving abroad," said the 68-year-old, “but in making a decision, you have to take into account the fact I'm no longer the youngest man around." Heynckes has already ruled out another coaching job in the Bundesliga.
