Late on Wednesday evening, the travelling support high up in the top tier at Camp Nou frenetically celebrated Bayern's progress to the Champions League final, as the players danced for joy in their pure white commemorative T-shirts down on the pitch. Munich comfortably beat Barcelona 3-0 on the night, completing a stunning 7-0 aggregate victory to move imperiously to a fifth appearance in the final of Europe's elite club competition.
“We've experienced something wonderful tonight. Our team has achieved something historic," declared Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, addressing the players and the 400 guests at the traditional midnight banquet in the team’s Hesperia Tower hotel. “Barcelona have dominated European football for the last six or seven years, but we've won 3-0 here. I'm almost having to pinch myself," continued the Munich chairman.
