Germany U-21s exit Euro
Just two matches into the competition, Germany’s U-21 juniors are out of the European championship in Israel. Rainer Adrion’s side lost their second group fixture 1-0 to reigning champions Spain, and can no longer progress to the semi-finals after defeat to the Netherlands in their opening match. Just as in the 3-2 defeat to the Dutch, the decisive goal came with time almost up, Morata netting for the Spaniards on 86 minutes. FCB man Emre Can made his first appearance of the tournament as a 70th-minute substitute. Adrion’s team now meet Russia, who are also already out of the Euro, in their final match on Wednesday.
